Government Digital Service – transform

Digitally transforming government

The delivery of government services was more than ready for a digital overhaul when we were asked to write the Martha Lane Fox report.  After reviewing the government’s digital channels we adopted a user-centred design approach coupled with substantial data analysis and user interviews.

Our recommendations in the report led directly to the creation of Government Digital Services (GDS), placing digital at the heart of service delivery and saving over £61m by running fewer websites. This was a significant step-change with a shift towards mobile digital services, open platforms and standards.
